About Us
Sattler Schwaige sits at 2,050 meters above sea level, at the foot of the Denti di Terrarossa, in the heart of the Alpe di Siusi in South Tyrol. Reachable on foot from Compatsch via hiking trail No. 7 and No. 13, or via No. 2, around 60 to 90 minutes. Those who take this route leave the majority of the day-tripper crowd behind.
The hosts Sabine, Sepp and Lukas have been running the Sattler Schwaige for over 30 years. What comes to the table grows as much as possible in their own garden at the Sattler Hof in the valley in Castelrotto: milk from their own cows, vegetables and herbs from the family garden, juices made with loving care. Our cows and donkeys graze right next to the hut. That’s the only spectacle we put on here.
There are no overnight accommodations at the Sattler Schwaige. Those who want to sleep in the area will find that at the Sattler Hof in San Osvaldo/Castelrotto.

Enjoy Our Traditional Cuisine
What we cook is what we know: speck and cheese dumplings from the family recipe, apple and cream cheese strudel fresh from the oven, homemade cakes that change with the season and harvest. The raw milk comes from our own cows, which graze on the alpine meadows right next to the hut.
With meat or vegetarian, you’ll find what you’re looking for here either way. What you won’t find: ready-made food, background music and the hustle that now accompanies many corners on the Alpe di Siusi.
The Best Moment
Anyone who doesn’t have to be back at the gondola by 3 pm should stay. Between 3 and 5 pm the terrace is almost all yours. The lunchtime guests are gone, the sun is still good, and the Sciliar is casting its first shadows. That’s the moment that made the small detour worthwhile.

On foot from Compatsch, hiking trail No. 7 then No. 13, or No. 2, around 60 to 90 minutes. Signposted from the Seiser-Alm-Bahn mountain station. Also manageable with a stroller. The Sattler Schwaige is not reachable by car.
